our next production will be ...

The BOX OFFICE is OPEN

There are many ways of looking at life. Glass half empty, glass half full etc. For Ravenshead Theatre Group’s next production we wanted to take a good, long look at LIFE. It’s a big subject and we realised that we needed a theme to ‘hang our hat on’.

After much RTG discussion we decided that Life can be like participating in a boardgame where the player’s fortunes rise and fall as the game progresses. Up those ladders and down those snakes, a bad roll of the dice, or a double-six!

So we’re proud to present “The Game of Life” - An evening of sketches, monologues, comedy and verse in a similar style to our “Spooky Tales” evening of last Autumn, but on the diverse theme of “LIFE”, and this show is suitable for all.

We’ve been searching for the humour and drama from childhood, teenage angst, schooldays, falling in love for the first time, seeking that soul-mate, setting up home, career moves, settling down, the comfy slippers, middle-age spread, those senior moments and grumpy old men!

During our rehearsals so far we have plundered the golden words of such notables as Oscar Wilde, Alan Bennett, Shakespeare, Victoria Wood, Sue Townsend, Alan Ayckbourn, Pam Ayers, Maeve Binchy, Joyce Grenfell, John Betjeman, even Flanders and Swann. Whilst we cannot promise that all of these will make the final cut, most of them will.

This production replaces the previously advertised “Accrington Pals” by Peter Whelan, which we hope to present at some future date.

“The Game of Life” is an eclectic mix and we’re sure that there will be something for everyone. Dates are Friday 25th and Saturday 26th May, 7.30pm at the Village Hall.

Tickets are now available from Godfrey’s in the shopping precinct or by ringing 01623 794625.

To paraphrase ‘Brucie’ – “Life is the name of the game and we wanna play the game with you.”

Welcome to the Ravenshead Theatre Group website; we hope you find something to interest you.

The Ravenshead Theatre Group was established in about 1967 in the village of Ravenshead, 10 miles north of Nottingham.  Over the years, we have become a reputable amateur dramatics group who perform about three productions a year.

Within the locality, we have built upon our reputation for providing good quality entertainment and are particularly proud of the achievements we have made in producing pantomimes. The other productions each year are a varied mixture of one act and two act plays, both comedy and serious.

With “wonderful enthusiasm” and even some talent, we enjoy prancing on the boards as we attempt to delight the populace around by doing on stage what others would be considered quite mad to do in any other public place.

We have a large wardrobe of costumes and may be able to assist other groups.  See the costume hire page for details.

Over 60 people are members of the group including the Youth Group. We are a mixed bunch of individuals with an amazing range of obsessions, passions and capabilities.  In addition to members who perform, there are talented technical crew who make the productions come alive.

Rehearsals are most Wednesday evenings at the Brammer Room in the Ravenshead Village Hall, Vernon Crescent, Ravenshead, from 8pm until about 10pm.  The evening invariably continues in the Sherwood Ranger, Chapel Lane, Ravenshead, until last orders.

So, if it’s acting, backstage, front of house or the technical aspects you’re interested in then please do join us by contacting a member directly or sending us an email for more information.
