Triple Whammy ... an evening of 3 one-act plays
Directors'
Notes My original idea for this play was about a man who had gone through a psychotic episode after witnessing the murder of his wife. I was fascinated with how this man would cope with retelling his story. Then the opportunity came to write the play for the NANDA Youth Festival. Our newly-formed Fringe group were desperate to perform something more 'adult and challenging' and they liked my script. Unfortunately, as we started to get into spring rehearsals we had to pull out of the Festival, but then it was decided that one-act plays would feature in RTG's September production and Verisimilitude was accepted. I had to change the main character from a Jack to a Jackie as we only have one male actor in the Fringe at the moment, but the Female version seems to work just as well. The play begins a couple of weeks after the murder of Jackie Rowland's husband, Richard Rowland. We are in a psychiatric ward (of Claire Dell Hospital) with Jackie about to tell the story of how her husband was murdered.

Directors'
Notes - The weather is such a universal topic of conversation in the UK. Most of us talk about it every day. This clever, witty play was performed back in 2006 by our Youth Group, directed by Hazel (playing New Year tonight). At the time both Hazel and myself thought that the RTG adults would have great fun playing these characters so, when the one-act format for this evening was floated, I pushed the script forward. I'm glad to say that the cast have found this as much fun to rehearse as I hoped they would.

Directors' Notes - Richard Kinnaird - TRIP OF A LIFETIME I have directed before, when I was at college but that was only a half hour play with no need to worry about props, lights, sound etc. Trip of a Lifetime really brought it home to me how much a director ACTUALLY has to think about ALL the time. I have really enjoyed the experience, the cast have been so easy to direct that they have made it a pleasure for me and I look forward to directing again, hopefully tackling a full length play next time.
